Fiesta Time

Former SP/T&NO 2-8-2 #794 is all decked out for the annual Fiesta celebration at its longtime display site, the former SP depot in San Antonio, Texas.

The 1916-vintage ALCO operated on SP/T&NO lines in Texas and Louisiana for 40 years before its retirement in 1956. SP donated it to the city of San Antonio in 1957.

Fiesta San Antonio occurs each April in the city and honors the heroes of the 1835-1836 Texas Revolution, particularly those who died at the Alamo in March 1836 and who won the Battle of San Jacinto in April 1836, securing Texas' independence from Mexico.
