Resting on the Holiday

Mount Hood Railroad GP38 #02 is taking Independence Day off from its duties hauling the railroad's excursion trains, dinner trains and the occasional freight. It is shown at the road's Hood River, Ore. shop.

Behind the locomotive is the Mount Hood's latest rolling stock addition, former Santa Fe "Pleasure Dome" #501, still wearing the colors of the defunct Spirit of Washington Dinner Train.

Iowa Pacific Holdings acquired the Spirit of Washington rolling stock and sent most of the cars to its Santa Cruz & Monterey Bay operation in California.
