Steam and Streetcar...

SP&S Northern #700 is preparing for a reverse move in the Oregon Pacific RR yard in southeast Portland during a Lerro Productions photo charter.

Overhead, a Portland Streetcar run on the Central Loop line has just departed the OMSI stop on its way to downtown.

The Central Loop line opened in September 2012. Its OMSI stop is also the station for the adjacent Oregon Rail Heritage Center, which houses the city of Portland's three steam locomotives -- the 700, former SP GS4 4-8-4 #4449, and former Oregon Railway & Navigation 4-6-2 #197.

A new MAX light rail station adjacent to the Heritage Center opened Sep. 12, 2015 when the Orange Line began operations between downtown Portland and the Clackamas County suburb of Milwaukie.

The new line includes the new Tilikum Crossing bridge across the Willamette River, which carries both MAX light rail and Portland Streetcar.
