The Star of the Show...

Amtrak's "star of the show" in Raleigh, NC is the New York-Florida "Silver Star". The eastbound "Star", #92, is shown here at CP Boylan on its approach to the Raleigh depot.

P42 #121 and P40 #835 lead a standard Amtrak single-level long-distance trainset of Amfleet coaches and lounge, Heritage diner, Viewliner sleepers and a Heritage baggage.

Consists such as this will change significantly, when the first of Amtrak's 130 new single-level cars enter service. The CAF-built cars will include new baggage cars, baggage-dorms and diners that will replace what are among the oldest pieces of rolling stock in the Amtrak fleet, dating back to the 1940s and 1950s.
