Still GOing in North Carolina

North Carolina DOT F59PH #1810 "City of Greensboro" is leading "Piedmont" #74 as it completes its run at the Raleigh, NC depot.

The EMD began its service as GO Transit #529 in Toronto, Ontario, and became surplus after the commuter agency acquired a fleet of new MP40PHs from Motive Power Industries (MPI).

NCDOT acquired four of the units from a used rolling stock dealer and had them rehabilitated for the agency's twice-daily "Piedmont" trains between Raleigh and Charlotte.

LIke the other locomotives in the NCDOT fleet, the 1810 bears the name of one of the route's on-line cities. The locomotive's number is also the year when the city was established.
