At Albina Yard

Union Pacific SD70M #4214 idles beside the the Albina Yard turntable as crews service the consist of the "Portland Rose" special, which had just arrived in Portland behind 4-8-4 #844.

Visible behind the locomotive are dome coach "Columbine", coach "Sunshine Special", and service cars "Reed Jackson", "Lynn Nystrom" and "Howard Fogg".

The dome car remained in Portland when the special left on Sep. 15, and was used on a special train to Roseburg, Ore. later that week for the dedication of the new Central Oregon & Pacific railyard in the southern Oregon city..

The view is from Portland's Overlook Park, on the bluffs to the east of the yard.
