O&W Right-of-Way at Fishs Eddy, NYO&W Road (which was built on the right-of-way of the New York, Ontario, and Western RR) bends along side a ridge just east of Fishs Eddy, NY. This view looks east towards East Branch, NY. The retaining wall is a physical reminder of the railroad, which was abandoned in 1957. At the height of the O&W's fortunes (between 1900 and 1920), this was a double-tracked mainline that saw over 40 trains a day including passenger trains to the Catskills and beyond (the O&W even had service to Chicago via connecting railroads!), milk trains, general freights, and coal drags from Scranton.
