CN in New Brunswick on Nashwaak Sub

RS-18 # 3834 has 4 cars at Penniac, N.B., crossing over the Nashwaak River, just east of Fredericton. This once very active 33 mile branch connected to CN's present Montreal - Halifax main at McGivney.

CN closed the line over the winter of 1994/95, opened it briefly in April 1995 to deliver coal to a military base, then shut it down for good thereafter. As with almost all the former rail lines in and around the Fredericton area, a good portion of the Nashwaak sub has been converted to a recreational trail.
