Talgo, as in Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriel, was a light, articulated train designed by the Goicoechea firm and financed by the Oriel family of Spain. The date is Tuesday, July 6, 1954, and on this test day along the Shore Line, the highest speeds attained was 102.8 mph on tangent track, and 90 mph on curves. The specificity came from an MGM newsreel of the period. The train paused for a couple of minutes in Union Station on track 1 in Providence, R.I. American Car and Foundry built the train in the U.S.
