Empty Conrail Welded Rail Train at Silver Springs, NY

CR 6160 (C40-8W) heads west through Silver Springs, NY, hauling an empty welded rail train. The tracks in the foreground are the Rochester & Southern's former BR&P/B&O line. The curve to the left led to Silver Lake & Perry, NY; that portion was already torn up by 1993; the line right along the entire east shore of Silver Lake along the way. The crossover here provides the R&S with access to a large Morton Salt facility on south (ERIE east) side of Silver Springs. The Conrail train is on the former ERIE/EL Hornell to Buffalo mainline.
