Bridge Abutment

The railroad would cross rolling terrain and there were a series of cuts, fills and bridges. The line was ready for rails by 1860, but the company went bankrupt. The shattered Virginia economy after the Civil War, plus railroad consolidation, kept the line from ever being finished.
