MBTA's Orange Line... The Prior Generation.

These well made cars were built by Pullman-Standard in 1957, and served a relatively short amount of time of less than 25 years. These cars, I remember, rode quiet, comfortable, and were retired early with plenty of miles left in them. The 1100's were the last cars to serve both the Charlestown Elevated and the Washington Street Elevated.

This pair, lived another life after use on the Orange Line as a Red Line work train. The added headlights demonstrate that, We discovered this pair at Seashore after checking out the grounds.

This is the most recent generation of Orange Line trains, as the current generation, known as the "Orange Blossoms" built by Hawker-Siddeley are still in bloom after more than 30 years in service, and will be in service for some time to come.
