Passenger Warbonnet...

A "Warbonnet" in passenger service in 2012???

BNSF C44-9W #721, still wearing its classic Santa Fe "Warbonnet" color scheme and "cigar band" nose logo, pinch-hit on Amtrak "Cascades" #500 Nov. 28 after the train's normal power developed a problem.

The unit is shown in King Street Station, Seattle after arriving from Portland, Ore. It is coupled on just ahead of "cabbage" NPCU #90278.

The same trainset returned to Portland as #507 without the BNSF unit, but with F59PHI #470 in its unique "King Tut" paint scheme as the replacement power.
