Treading Softly...

Oregon Pacific RR GMD1 #1413 is moving slowly as it crosses the newly-laid track in the OPR interchange yard in southeast Portland. The unit had just set out a flatcar to load scrap rail from the yard reconstruction.

The building to the left of the 1413 is the new Oregon Rail Heritage Center, which was under construction at the time. It now houses the city's three historic steam locomotives and serves as a restoration facility and interpretive center.
