The past and present of U.S. passenger railroading combine at Portland Union Station with Union Pacific's E9 trio on the 150th Anniversary special and the P42 and Superliners on Amtrak's "Empire Builder".

The UP train was on a tour of the Pacific Northwest and was on display at the depot; the Amtrak train had just turned on the wye at East Portland and was returning to load for its eastbound run to Chicago.
