The "Last Vestige" of the B&MLRR's 1946 Engine House, Belfast, METhe "Last Vestige" of the B&MLRR's 1946 Engine House in the railroad's former main yard in Belfast, ME, are these large chunks of concrete from the "pit" in the engine house floor which demolition workers have made into an makeshift Mexican "Sombrero Man" sculpture. The rails from the edge of the pits are seen on the ground next to the "statue" with the former site of the engine house behind where the foundation of a 26,500 sq ft, five story boat building facility to be part of the new Front Street Shipyard is being laid out. With the demolition of the engine house on June 21, 2011, the site was without such a structure for the first time since 1870. (Nine images of the actual demolition of the engine house, posted on June 21, 2011, are included in the images of the B&ML in this archive.)
