Sitting and Waiting

NS C40-9W #9115 leads a sister GE and and an EMD widecab on a manifest waiting to enter the NS yard northeast of downtown Raleigh, NC.

The train has stopped just short of the yard, the former Norfolk Southern Railroad facility, as it waits for clearance from the dispatcher.

The train normally arrives at CP Boylan, the old Raleigh Tower crossing, just past 9:00 a.m. after following "Silver Star" #92 in from Cary, where the CSX-NS paired tracks join.

It swings off the CSX-NS alignment at Southern Junction, on the west side of downtown Raleigh, as it enters the former NSRR right-of-way.
