Along the Springwater TrailUnion Pacific AC45CCTE #5405 is the lead unit on a southbound manifest stopped at Willsburg Junction in southeast Portland, Ore.
The freight was holding at the end of the two main track segment for the southbound "Coast Starlight" to pass by on its way to Los Angeles.
The viewpoint is the overpass that carries the Springwater Trail over the former SP Portland-Eugene main line.
This overpass is built on the abutments of the original Portland Traction Co. interurban bridge that carried the Cazadero Line east to Gresham, Boring and Estacada.
The line carried electric interurbans from 1905 to 1958, and diesel freights afterward. It was abandoned by East Portland Traction in the early 1990s, and the old ROW was developed as a popular multi-use trail that connects downtown Portland with several eastern suburbs.
