Albina Engine House

Union Pacific locomotives fill the ready tracks outside the diesel shop at Albina Yard in Portland, Ore. as they await their next assignment.

The large smokestack in the background remains from the old Albina roundhouse. The brick structure is a designated historical landmark. The brown strip behind the facility is the footprint of the old UP freighthouse, which was recently demolished.

The view is from the upper deck of the Interstate 405 Fremont Bridge, which was open to bicyclists for the annual Bridge Pedal event sponsored by Providence Health Systems
