Tacoma Eastern SD9 #439 is shown stored on the Lewis & Clark Railway at Battle Ground, Wash. shortly after the shortline ceased operations.

From 1995 to 1998, the 439 was the sole motive power for the company, which operated the former MILW lines from Tacoma to Morton and Chehalis.

The SD9 was originally built as Southern Pacific #5436, and was subsequently renumbered as #3914 and #4439.
