NEW HAVEN DL-701's AND CENTRAL VERMONT STEAM

The Central Vermont operated steam for five years more than the New Haven. Here CV N-5a 2-8-0 467 is waiting in New London to replace NH DL-701's on a fantrip to Amherst on October 14, 1956. CV 467 was built by Schenectady in 1923 and is the heaviest power on the CV's Southern Division - it wasn't a large engine but it was fairly powerful for a 2-8-0 although double-heading of the heavier freights was often necessary.

Photographed by Edward Ozog, October 14, 1956.
Added to the photo archive by Edward Ozog, August 22, 2009.
Railroad: New Haven.
