Cold iron...

Hello this line is seen from Station Road in Vassalboro, Maine. This view is looking toward Winslow and Waterville. This is not to far from where I grew up but never knew the road to this area exsited until last year. Pan Am Rail uses this line weekly to serve companies in Augusta. I was told this line sees frieght traffic about 3 times per week. The train still comes close to the Kennebec Rriver bridge in Augusta and follows the river from Waterville to Augusta. No trains cross the Bridge in Augusta now, the flood of 1987 took care of that. This looks like an old passenger/frieght platform taken out of use in the early 1960's. My father said he went on a school trip and took a train ride on this line from Waterville to Augusta back in the early 60's. I can tell you this, around this corner the ties are in sad shape, the track bends and sinks in the ground, the Kennebec is to the left of the tracks.
