Lafarge GE 45-tonner at West Des Moines (IA) Cement Terminal

This is the GE 45-ton engine used to switch Lafarge North America's West Des Moines Cement Terminal. This unit is a phase IV, unnumbered, and built 4/75 (builder# 39023).

Prior to 1994, it was based at Lafarge's Davenport Cement Plant in Buffalo, IA. When that plant upgraded to an SW900, this unit was sent to West Des Moines Terminal.

It was initially built for Martin Marietta Cement, when that company owned and operated the Davenport Cement Plant.

Photo taken from company property with permission.
