Guess what this is...

This is the inside of CRDX21054, a 3281cf Trinity-built 2-bay covered hopper. The lading is portland cement, which is a very heavy, dense powder. This is a 286k car and it is filled to the load limit with cement, despite all of the void space and the fact that this is a smaller-cube hopper relative to grains, plastics, etc. This car has approximately 116st of cement inside, at about 90lb/cf.

The inside of this car was safely photographed at the Lafarge terminal in Grand Forks, ND by Brad Beyer, Lafarge Dakotas Territory Manager.

Photographed by John A. Joyce, June 30, 2008.
Added to the photo archive by John Joyce, June 30, 2008.
Railroad: Lafarge.
