"purple haze" example 2

Since yesterday’s post of the 1120 shoving on a departing inbound at Lincoln I received a couple of e-mails in reference to my comment "smoke rises from the traction motors in the 90 degree heat”. I wanted to post two examples of what I observed to see if anyone could shed some light on this phenomenon. It appears to me that smoke is coming from the traction motors or blowers on the the GP40-2MC's. Here is the same phenomenon on the 1131 shoving an inbound approaching Belknap St. in Concord Ma
