New power on the Cartier

Two of the new GE AC440w's lead a northbound ore train out of Port Cartier, the southern terminus of the 260 mile railway. The engineer, visible in the cab of number 20, is Jim Redmond, manager of the "Riding the Last Alcos" web site. He, together with a number of his colleagues, have made the Cartier a truly railfan-friendly railroad. Port Cartier is on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, 360 miles east of Quebec City and about 200 air miles northeast of the Canadian border in northern Maine
