In the summer of 2002, four big Alco-designed six-axles doing their thing!

The northbound Cartier ore train is at mile 31, almost at the top of the grade from Baker to Charles, and still working hard. Normal power has been three of these M-636's, but this train rated four. The two leaders, 83 and 76, were recently remanufactured and wear the QCM's new colors. Sad to say, the new GE AC4400W's will take over all the heavy trains by the end of September. Eight of the big Alcos are to be retained for work trains, switching and peak road power, but the rest of the fleet will be retired.
