New York, Ontario & Western: Cadosia, NY

21 people from the NYO&W historical society explored the NYO&W grade on 3/39/25.

Joey is pointing to the former location of the Hawk Mountain tunnel. First train through the tunnel was in 1873! A small gravestone marks the site. This was the north portal.

When Rt 17 was expanded in the 1960s, the land on top of the tunnel was filled in with rocks/dirt for the new highway.

A few members in the group that day have said that they have tried to find the south portal. It's still buried by fill.
