There's a reason the Cog RR doesn't bring trains to the summit in wintertime. 100+ mph winds and temperatures below zero (with wind chill values way off the chart) make survival a challenge even for those with the best winter climbing gear. When the weather clears, one can see how the Cog RR tracks have become just a part of the patterns in drifted snow. Please don't hike up to see sights like this unless you have the gear, knowledge, experience, and physical fitness that winter on Mount Washington demands of climbers. Even those who've scaled Mt. Everest have been forced to flee Mt. Washington by its weather.
