D&H Switchman riding box car in 1958A switchman "enjoys" a ride on a kicked NYC box car at the D&H Bevier St flat yard at Binghamton NY in the summer of 1958. By the mid '60s, freight cars were no longer permitted to be built with roof walks and high mounted brake wheels and by the mid '70s cars in interchange service could not have same.
