A summer afternoon in 1958 at Waverly NY/Sayre PA - 1

Waverly NY and Sayre PA sit adjacent to each other on the Pennsylvania-NY border. My father caught LV's westbound Black Diamond arriving on a summer afternoon in 1958 at around 3:25pm. This would be the last summer of the Diamond's operation as it would be abolished in May 1959. After capturing a swap of the lead PA 609 for 603, my father hustled over to South Waverly, about 2 miles away, to capture the arrival of the DL&W's westbound Phoebe Snow due in < 30 minutes from the Diamond's arrival.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1958.
