Wabash Cannon Ball at Lafayette - 1

It's mid afternoon on a dreary 1968 summer day at the ex-Wabash depot in Lafayette IN as Norfolk & Western's train #304 readies for departure east to Detroit pulled by a N&W steam generator equipped GP9 with a nice DL&W express box that EL shop crews never re-painted and ex-Wabash baggage car ahead of the passenger accommodations.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1968.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, December 27, 2023.
