James Whitcomb Riley - 1

Penn Central's James Whitcomb Riley, named in honor of the Hoosier poet, makes its stop at Lafayette on its way from Chicago to Cincinnati on a dreary summer day in 1968. The lead E8 for PC train #304 looks a bit long in the tooth but the consist is still respectable with diner and reclining seat coaches.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1968.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, December 26, 2023.
