Trio of D&H C628s at Silver Springs NY

It's a little over a month since Conrail gobbled up the PC, EL, LV, etc on April 1, 1976 and in a feeble attempt to provide competition to new northeast rail Goliath, D&H has been granted trackage rights and some N&W interchange traffic over the former EL Buffalo main and Southern Tier between Hornell and Binghamton. Three weathered D&H C628s have just picked up some cars at Silver Springs NY and are headed east.

Photographed by John Barlow, May, 1976.
Added to the photo archive by John Barlow, December 12, 2023.
