Thursday afternoon I received a tip that, due to a washout in Ayer, MA, a Norfolk Southern detour train with a heritage unit leading was coming east on CSX through the Mohawk Valley. Oh, and something was going on with an Amtrak train at Hoffmans. I got down to trackside just as the NS detour train rolled through with the Nickel Plate unit leading at Craneville, NY.
