Riding the Rio Grande Zephyr

Here's a dome car view from the D&RGW's Rio Grande Zephyr that operated as captured by my father in September 1979. When Western Pacific discontinued its segment of the Cal Zephyr in March 1970, D&RGW operated the RGZ between Denver and Ogden UT for next 13 years until Amtrak moved its San Francisco Zephyr off UP to the more scenic Rio Grande route renaming the Chicago-Oakland train the California Zephyr.

Photographed by John Barlow, September, 1979.
