Erie Limited arriving Owego - 2

With brake show smoke evident, Erie train #1 slows for the Owego station stop. Erie long distance passenger service was functional if not elegant - the only streamlined lightweight passenger cars it owned were 11 Pullman Standard sleepers. Diners and coaches were rebuilt heavyweights, except for 400 or so Stillwell coaches such as the long distance example carrying the markers here. This car was used to handle "shorts", ie patrons traveling short distances along the route between New York and Chicago.
