Visitor Comments about this Photo:

This photo is a brilliant slide of history! Both the RDC and the GP9 behind it are ex-NH (Hancock air whistle) - love the Gulf Oil tank car lurking in the background! I suppose that the rest of the locos are ex-PRR?

I've never seen a photo of the Charles St. engine terminal or its turntable. I don't imagine that it looks anything like this now.

Thanks for posting, and also thanks as always to Jeff Morris for hosting this website - it has provided me with untold hours of enjoyment and education.

Upon further review, the ruling on the field is that RDC has regular bell-type air horns (painted black?), and not the NHRR's trademark Hancock air whistles.

I guess that means I lose my challenge....

The two GP-9's are X-NH, RDC-2 is X-NYC (no pilots, just bar attached to trucks in front of lead set of wheels) and E-8 and GP-30 are X-PRR.
