A pair of ex-Erie GP7s lead an EL freight along the Susquehanna

A few miles east of Owego where the EL follows the contours of the Susquehanna River, a pair of of ex-Erie Geeps lead an eastbound freight east. It's been almost 10 years since the Erie and Lackawanna merged but the GP7s continue to wear their as-delivered livery, except the Erie's trademark nose wings have been painted over and the EL diamond has replaced the Erie diamond hearld.

Photographed by John Barlow, 1970.
