LV FO-2 on the EL nearing Campville NYFrom a photographic venue perspective, taking train pictures along the ex-Erie EL main along rt 17C between Owego and Campville had its challenges coping with code line poles and shadow lighting on those infrequent sunny days. Here is LV's FO-2 Sayre-Binghamton turn led by RS-11 402 and F3B heading for interchange with the D&H operating on a freshly ballasted stretch of main 2 between the highway and the Susquehanna River on a winter day. I'm not sure of the date of the capture but given there are 3 guys in 402's cab and NY state's full crew law was repealed in May '71 and given the last F3B was retired 12/72, I'm going to guess the date is winter of '71-'72. I also read on Scot Lawrence's excellent LV locomotive roster web site (https://scotlawrence.github.io/LValltimeroster/) that LV RS-11s 400-03 delivered in March 1960 were the first low nose hood units delivered to an eastern US railroad.
