Shore Line East goes electric

Shore Line East M-8 trainsets lay over at New London on Track 1 between their departures, before heading back west. There is a Track 6 (to the right of the high level platform at far right), but there is no wire on it. Perhaps these trains can lay over on that track in the future so Amtrak can get by on both Tracks 1 & 2. We'll see what the future holds!

Good to see old "ENlon" looking so spiffy. Spent many a day traveling to and from this station on shore leave as well as railfanning here, Many a photo taken here and published on NERAIL. Remember when Shore Line service was down to a single RDC. Rode one of the last trains to Worcester from here as well.. In later years took the car ferry to LI. A great way to get to NY
