BNSF 8796 (SD70ACe) and BNSF 5775 (ES44AC) lead empty coal hoppers west approaching the depot at Western Springs, IL on the former CB&Q mainline west out of Chicago. I have no way of knowing if this was indeed the 8796's 1st trip, but I do know it was but recently delivered. A black-and-white photo of this same train farther east in Blue Island is the oldest photo of this unit in RRPictureArchives.net. I also have no idea why this train and the Metra local that preceded it were using what would normally have been the eastbound local passenger main.
