Fallen flags at Bison YardA few weeks after Conrail's creation 4/1/76, this photo captures the diversity of what Bison Yard in Buffalo once offered. In 1963, Erie Lackawanna and Nickel Plate rebuilt the Bison as a hump yard. The yard hosted C&O and Wabash classification operations and the LV main passed closely by. In this photo, a gaggle of D&H newly rebuilt RS3Ms is hauling the eastbound Apollo pig train jointly operated with N&W.between Chicago and Oak Island NJ. Visible fallen flags in addition to the D&H include EL, N&W, and PC.
