Empty Limestone Train in Chelmsford

Here was the 51 car empty limestone train (BOPW) as they crossed School Street in Chelmsford earlier today. The NA-1 Crew started south with this train from Manchester, and tied down at CPF-309 in the Graniteville section of Westford.

This was the first limestone train to Bow since April of 2018. The last empty coal train departed from Bow in mid-June 2020.

We know paint doesn't pull, but these two nicely painted Dash 8-40C's sure looked great during their time on "These New Hampshire Rails", where six axle sightings are rather rare these days. MEC 7523 was trailing.

What is/was that little wood frame building to the right of the crossing? It had a siding, and a freight door for unloading boxcars, from the look of it.

West Chelmsford Freight Depot, built by the Stony Brook RR around 1870, though it appears the structure was moved to this spot from across the street. Used to house a model train shop at one time. Perfect place for that. The town of Chelmsford's website can give you much more details, it's a interesting read.
