FI-1 heads up the Heywood Branch with a good size cut of cars, half of these will go to Seaman Paper in Otter River. Shot sometime in the late 90’s from route 2 bridge.

Thanks for the comments guys, the only thing that hasn’t changed in this picture is the brick building on the lower right and the railroad. Everything else has been removed, altered, or added to.

Amazing that at this late date there was this much carload freight going to various customers and the cars were free of dystopian graffiti. The scene is quintessential New England industrial and the coating of snow adds to the atmosphere and contrast. A moment in time caught in an image. How things have changed and not for the better.
