The EMDX Unit behind BNSF 1117 at Bazar, KS

This going away view of BNSF 1117 (C44-9W ) and EMDX 802 (GP38-2) at Bazar, KS tells a whole lot about the heritage heritage of the trailing EMDX 802. The top of the Conrail 'can opener' shows on the side and the 'CONRAIL' name is partly visible behind the EMD logo. This unit started life as PC 8002 and kept its number wearing the Conrail blue. I do not know whether if was chance that the EMDX number was so similar, or someone was trying to simplify the work in the number boards when the unit was renumbered
