Palmer's Conrail Glory Days #17 - Nbd Vermonter Crossing Over

With AMTK 245 (F40PH) now in the lead and the head trainman preparing to dismount the cab step to close the manual crossovers after his train (or perhaps climbing aboard for the trip north and leaving the switches for a rear trainman), Amtrak's northbound Vermonter crosses over from the Conrail passing track to the interchange track leading from the New England Central (and Mass Central) to the Conrail yard so it can continue north on the New England Central to its northern terminus in St. Albans, Vt.

Photographed by Warren Beckwith, April, 1996.
