NJ Transit Trying to Make a 50-year-old MC Car Look New

Someone, I believe it was NJ Transit, applied bright red paint and cream window panels to a few of the DL&W/EL/Conrail MU's that dated back to 1930. This photo shows a train with 1 repainted power car leading its trailer, and another power car/trailier set, all still in the original Pullman Green Paint. The train is slowing to pick up at least 1 commuter at the former DL&W station in Glen Ridge, NJ, its 1st stop on its run from Montcalir to the DL&W terminal in Hoboken. I am showing this as a Conrail photo, as Conrail was still responsible for operation of this service in 1980 and would be for 3 more years.
