Port Authority of Allegheny County Light Rail on the Panhandle Bridge

On a sultry August morning as seen from the top of Monongahela Incline, a southbound trolley crosses the Monongahela River on the ex-PRR Panhandle bridge that had been used soley by Pennsy passenger trains between Pittsburgh and Columbus/Indianapolis/St Louis and Amtrak's National Ltd up unitl its discontinuance in 1979. The bridge was sold to the Port Authorit in 1982 to convert it to light rail use removing trolleys off the streets of downtown Pittsburgh.
