Not long out of Port Jervis, this westbound has reached Mill Rift, Pennsylvania and will travel some scenic miles along the Delaware River. Like this photographer, many, who were around before Big Blue, came to wish they had spent more time chasing the E-L.

Terrific photo! Rationally I bought into the transition to Conrail to address the issue of too many RR competing for too little traffic in the northeast but emotionally not so much. Surviving EL routes are a shadow of their former selves with some lines like the one you captured here hanging on by threads.
